5000 years
Old memories
5000 years
Old stories
Planetary library
Preserved for centuries
Melting into oblivion
Layer after layer
Dirty past
Bleeding into the present
Ancient air
In deep decay
Traces of what we were
Float away
When it dissolves
Will we break free
From history?
The blockbuster
Of blockbusters
A spectacle of decadence
Overflowing evidence
Broadcasted live
Right in front of our eyes
Right in front of us
In an entertaining show
We’re touching our own
Doom.

We hear the call
Simple and clear
We hear the growth
In the gentle rustle of nutrients
Running through the capillaries of the pipe system
We hear the call
Simple and clear
We hear more
When we don’t
Fear the fall
Locked in vats
Fish are silent witnesses
Of difficult conversation
Of difficult decision making
How we will approach it
We hear the call
Simple and clear
We'll hear more
When we stop
Fearing the fall.

I’m drinking my reflection
I'm all that arises and ceases
I’m drinking my reflection
I'm the rain
I'm the sea
The ocean
I’m the dam
The river that flows into it
I’m the stream that flows into the river
I'm the spring that turns into the creek
I’m a drop
A tear
My reflection is drinking me
I’m a drop
A tear
I'm the spring that turns into the creek
That turns into the river
That turns into the sea
That turns into the ocean
That turns into the rain
My reflection is drinking me
I'm all that arises and ceases.

Peaceful & quiet
On the surface
Aggressive and violent
Under the ground
We’re holding tight to our comfort
We measure
everything by the amount of comfort
In our lives
Fruitful & beautiful
On the surface
Ugly and violent
Deep under the ground
We’re holding tight to our comfort
We measure
everything by the amount of comfort
In our lives
We’re burying our bad habits
We’re burying our breath
We’re burying our sins
Burying deep within.

Whatever it is that you see
Don’t give it a name
Whatever it is that you hear
Don’t give it a name
Whatever it is that you feel
Don’t give it a name
Whatever it is that you think
Don’t give it a name
Whatever it is that you need
Don’t give it a name
Whatever it is that you believe
Don’t give it a name
Whatever is happening
Whatever will be
Whatever it is that you have
Whatever you never will
Whatever is the place you are at
Whatever is the place you want to be
Don’t give it a name.

Whistle, hum, heat
steam spins turbine
Ash carried by flue gas
covers the streets
A dark spinning growl
Fading shine
The rain washes away
The thick air
The ash from the burning coal
Turns lungs into stone
Splashing water
Dripping coal
Powerful steam
Elemental control
It seem
The sound of the burning coal
Is the sound of politics
Tricks
We hear
The feeling of emptiness
And nothing
Nothing comes again
The rain washes away
The thick air
The ash from the burning coal
Turns lungs into stone.

We share the blame
Like sucking on a candy
We were enjoying the treat
Now our teeth fall out
We share the shame
Like sucking on a candy
(For far too long)
We were enjoying the treat
Now our minds explode
And our hearts break
Because there's no way back
No, there's no way back
Because
We can't keep on moving
Only forward all the time
We can't keep on climbing up
We can't
We can't
We just can't
We're looking for a priest,
To confess to
We're looking for a priest,
To take away our guilt
For too long we were
Accepting the gift
That kept on giving
Without ever giving
Anything back
For too long we were accepting
The gift
That kept on giving
Without ever giving anything back
Never giving anything back
We're not needed here.

What is the color of noise?
What is the sound of silence?
Who's behind the fence?
Can you buy moral authority?
Can you buy meaning?
Can you buy reason and truth?
Who's behind the fence, really who?
Horses or farmers?
Farmers or horses?
Who's domesticating whom?
Humans animals
Or animals humans?
Who's cultivating whom?
Humans the environment
Or the environment humans?
Who's raising who?
Parents children
Or children parents?
Children parents
Or parents children?
Who sets the rules?
Who's behind the fence, really who?

This recording is a part of the interdisciplinary project Future Landscapes produced by Era Production. Music on this recording is composed of sounds from selected natural and industrial locations in the Czech and Iceland. The music takes the listeners to the spots that are crucial to the functioning of contemporary civilization. Sonic expedition took place in eight locations where our society finds vital resources including electricity and gropes to find methods that would slow down the arrival of the climate collapse. The sounds were collected by Sara Pinheiro and Magnús Bergsson by field recording methods. fyield translates the factors and consequences of how human actions often inadvertently affect climate change into a unique and captivating sound form.
